![]() ![]() Take-Two has the opportunity to expand this franchise even further with GTA 6. GTA 5 has lifted the GTA franchise to unprecedented heights. Gamers are now expecting GTA 6 to be a truly revolutionary gaming experience, which is an expectation that Rockstar will likely deliver on given the company's past record of success. While the long wait-time of GTA 6 has been an understandable source of frustration for gamers, it is ultimately serving to further fuel the hype behind GTA 6. As a point of comparison, trailers for Cyberpunk 2077 were already released in 2013, which is a full seven years before the game's actual release. Most other game studios would have likely already spent millions of dollars on advertising for a game in a similar stage in development. The fact that Take-Two has yet to spend a single dollar marketing GTA 6 speaks volumes on the franchise's popularity. With that being said, GTA 6 will likely shatter the sales records set by GTA 5 given the momentum behind the franchise (which can largely be attributed to GTA 5's success). This sales figure is unprecedented in the gaming industry, with no other AAA title coming even close. GTA 6 will come off the heels of GTA 5, which has sold a stunning 150 million copies so far. This organic hype is great news for Take-Two as it hints at the potential demand for GTA 6. The only video game that received similar levels of hype was Cyberpunk 2077, and that was only after CD Projekt Red spent years and millions of dollars fueling the hype through carefully crafted trailers, overpromises, and celebrity endorsements. Given that Take-Two has been incredibly tight-lipped about GTA 6, the hype for GTA 6 is truly incredible. Individuals on these sites comb through recent hirings, advertisements, insider leaks, etc, all in an attempt to gain details on GTA 6. In an industry that is increasingly plagued with shoddy or outright broken releases, Take-Two's obsession with perfectionism will likely pay off in a big way in the long-term. The relatively small updates/expansions in between major title releases have only further angered a growing portion of its consumers.ĭespite the growing negativity regarding Take-Two's release schedule, the company's ability to withstand criticism and work at its own pace is actually a huge strength. While Take-Two produces some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed titles in the industry, the company is also becoming increasingly well-known for its slow release schedule. Take-Two Inter active ( NASDAQ: TTWO) continues to be one of the most polarizing names in gaming.
